This year’s winning photograph is “In Minerva’s Dreams” by Marie Maher. The photo developed over time. It started with a curtain blowing in the wind in an abandoned building: the woman’s image was added, transfixed-perhaps frightened by-the moon. Then came the spider web, pulling it all together: Minerva is the Roman manifestation of the goddess Athena in Greek mythology who turned Arachne into a spider. Maher has had a passion for photography since she was old enough to hold a camera and now dedicates herself totally to this art form. She is inspired by dream-like images. Maher is a member of the Enchanted Lens Camera Club, Perspectives (a small group of professional photographers) and participates in the Placitas Studio Tour.
